Dalby & District Veterinary Services is one of the expanding Apiam Animal Health group of regional and rural clinics that are committed to enriching the lives of animals, people, and communities.
Due to our clinic’s restructure, we are now seeking a veterinarian to lead our team of mixed and companion animal vets.
The Position:
- This is a hands-on clinical role delivering veterinary services to a high standard. You will enjoy building strong relationships with your team, your clients, and within the community.
- As a Lead Veterinarian, you will work closely with the Clinic Coordinator in the day-to-day running of the clinic. You are a key part of the regional management team responsible for managing, developing, and mentoring veterinary associates including new and recent graduates.
- The mix of work for this lead role is negotiable however our preference is for 50-75% companion animals. We anticipate 25% of your time will be focused on leadership tasks and mentoring team members, and the balance being clinical work.
- The overall practice mix is approximately 70% companion animals, 30% large animals.
- Vets work a 4-day week. We are happy to negotiate flexible working conditions for the right applicant.
- Mixed vets contribute to the on-call roster (currently 1:5). Vets are also contributing to the Saturday morning clinic roster on a rotating basis with the shift times 7:30am to 12noon.
- The anticipated start date for this role is late August 2023, however this is flexible.
The Team:
- The team at Dalby & District Veterinary Services consists of:
- 11 vets
- 3 x companion animal vets
- 7 x mixed vets
- 1 x large animal vet
- Regional Coordinator (practice manager)
- 12 nurses – 1 senior/head nurse, 7 x training nurses, 4 x qualified/experienced nurses of which 2 are Vet Techs
- 1 x senior receptionist
- 1 x clinic support role
About You:
- Ideally you will have 5+ years’ experience in companion or mixed practice.
- Strong surgery skills including orthopaedics are highly regarded but not essential.
- You are a great communicator and enjoy getting to know your team and clients.
- Whilst experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred, we can support your transition to the lead role. We offer formal structured leadership development training and local support from our leadership team.
- More than anything else, we need a genuinely motivated and enthusiastic person who leads by example, values their team, and contributes to an amazingly positive workplace culture.
- As we create our newly expanded service to the community, we look forward to you growing it with us.
