Apiam Animal Health operates a group of a practices in rural and regional Australia. We are seeking an experienced specialist Equine Veterinary Surgeon for Scenic Rim Veterinary Service, Qld to fill a full-time role.

Scenic Rim Veterinary Service is a fully equipped equine referral and first-opinion practice located on 30 acres on the outskirts of Beaudesert, in the Scenic Rim region of south-east Queensland, Australia.

We have a full time position for an Equine Surgeon to join our 2 experienced surgeons within a growing team of 15 veterinarians.

Applicants with specialty registration or applicants who are experienced surgeons or who have completed a residency program will be considered.

Importantly, we seek a talented, enthusiastic, practical team player who shares our goal of providing top level veterinary care. 

Scenic Rim Veterinary Service is a growing practice with 15 veterinarians and 12 support staff, including qualified nurses and experienced administration staff.

It has a large thoroughbred client base, both racing and stud, along with servicing a considerable number of sport horses, Quarter Horses, Australian Stock Horses and companion horses.  Full surgical services, ultrasound, digital radiography, video endoscopy, laparoscopy and diode laser services are offered.

The surgical team manages approximately 1000 general anaesthetic surgeries per year.  These include orthopaedic, ophthalmology, reproductive, respiratory and GIT cases.

Our vets perform significant lameness work, performance medicine, endoscopy, radiology, artificial reproduction and stud management and medicine.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Specialist registration with state Veterinary Board
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent degree
  • A minimum of two years’ veterinary experience focusing on equine surgery.
  • Current and valid Driver’s license
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on customer needs
  • Ability to work as a team and independently with all members of staff
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to clearly communicate with staff and clients alike
  • Time management with regard to both punctuality and the ability to complete tasks within the required timeframe
  • Maintain a high standard of presentation, taking pride in one’s personal appearance and the clinic itself
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to a mixed animal practice

The salary offered will be range between $120,000 – $160,000 and will be based upon qualifications and experience.
